How Many Days Until The Holidays?

Main Street Holidays

You can almost feel it in the air. Well, not if you’re from South Florida, but I digress. Halloween is almost here, and the department stores are already starting to put out holiday decorations! I am not the type that complains that the season comes earlier each year. Yes, I understand, and hate capitalism as much as the next guy, but there is something about this season for Disney addicts!

If you are fortunate enough to have ever been to any Disney park during the last two months of each year, you know what I am talking about! Where do I start? Maybe we can discuss the beautiful decorations or the unbelievable lights? How about the holiday shows or the smells of apple cinnamon pumped from stores? Oh, and what about Ghirardelli’s hot chocolate on a chilly night? I am so ready for it!

Okay, okay, I’m calm and ready to focus. Let’s discuss the decorations in this post. I will get to the rest in the weeks leading up to the end of the year. Nobody has greater attention to detail than Disney. Whether you are in the parks or at a resort Disney gets you into the holiday spirit. Let’s focus on Magic Kingdom today.

If you are looking to be immersed in the holiday mood than Main Street USA is the place to be! The moment you walk out from under the train station and walk onto Main Street you can see, hear and smell the holidays! The placed is decked out with balls of holly, fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la! You hear beloved carols playing in turn of the century style, you smell the sweet smells from the Confectionery and you are instantly transported to old fashion, Midwest 1920-ish Christmas!

This location has to be one of my top 5 places to be during this time of year. The beautiful decorations on each storefront and the hanging wreaths that span the width of the street are gorgeous but just wait until it gets dark! I am a Christmas light junkie as it is, and Main Street will not disappoint. The lights glow and twinkle and lead you down to the Castle Forecourt for a breathtaking show that happens each evening at dusk. The Castle goes through a magical transformation during which was hosted by Cinderella, and the Fairy Godmother (Rumor has it that Elsa might be taking center stage this year). The Fairy Godmother transforms the castle into sparkling ice to help Cinderella celebrate the holidays. There is not a sight more beautiful in all of Disney!

I could go on and on, but I’ll save it for a later post. In the meantime enjoy the pics and share your thoughts on the Magic Kingdom’s holiday experience!
